Diana Howard - Violin, Viola

Diana has earned a B.S. degree with honors from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana, in music education, K - 12, and 35 graduate hours from various universities throughout the Midwest. She has 34 years teaching experience, including 12 years as a public school orchestra director, 7 years teaching in private schools, and 21 years as a private lesson instructor. She was awarded 5 "Honor An Educator" awards and many superior ratings in music contests as a public school teacher. She served as a clinician at the Indiana Music Educators' Association Convention. She is now teaching private violin and viola lessons in the Round Rock Schools' Individualized Music Instructors Program.

Diana's past teachers have been Alberta Denk, Priscilla Smith, and Dr. Richard Fisher in Indiana. She attended various string workshops at the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, and University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. At Boise State University she studied with Dr. Linda Kline-Lamar, and attended several workshops conducted by the Idaho Viola Society, including lessons with Peter Slowik, viola professor at the Oberlin Conservatory.

Diana has experience performing various musical styles - classical, church, pops, jazz, and fiddling. She is now playing viola with the Austin Civic Orchestra and the First United Methodist Church of Round Rock Orchestra. In the past she has performed in the Boise Baroque Professional Chamber Orchestra, Meridian Symphony, and Century String Quartet, in Boise, Idaho. In Michigan she performed in the Midland Symphony (including an European tour), and Midland Music Society Pit Orchestra. In Indiana she performed in the Carmel Symphony, Muncie Symphony, Anderson Symphony, and was principal violist with the Ball State University Symphony. Diana loves working with children of all ages, as well as adults. She has been married for 34 years, and has three grown children.
